Clear aligners are a discreet way to straighten teeth using a series of removable, clear plastic trays — no metal brackets or wires. At Sahara Family Dentistry in Spring Valley, we offer clear aligner treatment for adults and teens who want to improve their alignment without it showing.
The trays come out for meals and brushing, which makes them easier to live with than fixed braces for most patients.
What clear aligners can fix
Clear aligners work well for:
- Mild to moderate crowding
- Gaps between teeth
- Minor bite issues (overbite, crossbite, underbite)
- Teeth that shifted back after braces
More complex bite cases may be better treated with braces. We’ll tell you which option fits your situation at your consultation.
Aligner systems we offer
We offer more than one clear aligner system so we can match the treatment to your case and budget:
- Invisalign — predictable and comfortable across a wide range of cases.
- ClearCorrect — a more affordable option that handles mild to moderate cases well.
We also offer Invisalign and ClearCorrect directly if you’re researching a specific system.
What treatment looks like
- Consultation and digital scan — We start with an exam and digital impressions, no goopy molds.
- Custom aligners made — Each set of trays is fabricated to your treatment plan.
- Wear them daily — 20–22 hours a day, removing to eat and clean your teeth. Switch to the next set as scheduled.
- Progress checks — You’ll come in at intervals so we can confirm your teeth are moving as planned.
- Retainers — Once you’re done, a retainer keeps your new smile in place.
Most treatment runs 6–18 months depending on the case.
Keeping teeth healthy during treatment
During aligner treatment we support your oral health with cleanings, X-rays, and — for patients who are nervous — oral sedation.
Common questions
Are clear aligners as effective as braces?
For many cases, yes. Complex bite or alignment problems may require braces. We’ll tell you which fits at the consultation.
How many hours a day do I wear them?
20–22 hours. Remove for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing.
Do they affect speech?
You may have a slight lisp the first few days. Most patients adjust quickly.
Do they hurt?
You may feel pressure for a day or two when switching to a new set. It’s usually mild.
Does insurance cover aligners?
Many PPO plans include orthodontic coverage. Call us and we’ll check your benefits.
